Virginia Welding & Fabrication handles industrial maintenance for plants, distribution centers, and data center campuses in Middletown and throughout our northern Shenandoah Valley service area. Anything inside the building that is not production is our work. Compressed air piping, conveyor frames and guarding, pallet racking, machine guards, pipe and duct supports, cooling tower steel, equipment pads, and the repair welding that keeps a line running until the next planned window.
We work out of a 5,000 square foot shop in Middletown and we run mobile trucks, so parts get fabricated here and installed at your plant. Shop hours are Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM.

Most maintenance departments are not short on skill. They are short on hours and short on a second set of hands for the work that pulls two people off the floor for three days. That is the work we take.
We work to your procedures, and your isolation and lockout program is the first thing we ask about. We sit through contractor orientation like anybody else coming through the gate. We field verify before we cut, because a twenty year old compressed air header almost never runs where the as built shows it, and a conduit in the way is a shop problem at the walkdown or a floor problem on install day. Fabrication happens on our table in Middletown, so the assembly arrives fit up complete and your equipment is only open for the bolt up. Systems we work on
Compressed air systems
Setting compressors, receiver tanks, and dryers, then running header and drops so the piping is sized for the run you actually have. Leaks and pressure drop cost real money every hour the plant is open.
Conveyors and drives
Frame repair, guarding, take up sections, transitions, skirting, and drive stands. Conveyor work is rarely just the belt, and the steel around it is what fails first.
Guarding and safety steel
Point of operation guards, nip point covers, perimeter fencing, handrail, toe kick, stairs, and dock guardrail. Built to fit the machine in front of us, not a catalog part number.
Pallet racking and storage
Rack installation, teardown, reconfiguration, floor anchoring, column protectors, and end of aisle guards. Rack that has taken a forklift hit is a structural problem, not a cosmetic one.
Pipe and duct support
Overhead support grids, hangers, trapeze steel, and stands for dust collection duct, process pipe, and utility runs. Fabricated to the elevations we measure on site.
Equipment pads and setting
Pad prep, base plates, anchor bolts, shimming, and grouting. We level off the machined pad, shim at the bolt points rather than between them, and grout once the readings hold across both axes.
Shutdowns and outages
Work that has a hard start and a hard finish
Shutdown work is not the same job as everyday repair. The window opens, it closes, and the cost of missing it is measured in production hours, not labor hours. That means the fabrication has to be finished before the window opens.
Send us the scope early. We walk the job, take our own dimensions, build the steel in the shop, and stage the material so the window opens with your parts already sitting on site. If the scope shifts during the walkdown, we would rather find it four weeks out than on the morning the line goes down.

From the first call to the handback
Walk the job
We come out, look at the actual conditions, and take our own measurements. Photos and a phone call get us started, but nobody quotes a plant job off a drawing alone.
Quote the scope and the lead time
You get the scope written out, the material, and when we can be there. If part of it belongs to another trade, we say so up front.
Fabricate in the shop
Cutting, fit up, and welding happen in Middletown. The assembly shows up finished so your equipment is only down for the install.
Install and clean up
Hot work gets permitted before the first spark, and the fire watch stays on the area after the last cut. What we hand back is swept, the scrap is on our truck, and your people can start a shift in it.

Frequently Asked Questions
- Can you do maintenance work without taking the line down?
On most scopes, yes. Guarding, rack work, duct support, and header runs get done around the schedule rather than through it, and we work to your permit and isolation procedures the whole time. Some work genuinely needs the equipment locked out and cold, and we say that at the quote rather than halfway through the job.
- Do you take breakdown calls?
We take breakdown and repair work and we will tell you honestly where it lands in the schedule that week. When it cannot wait, we offer emergency repair services, onsite and in the shop, so call (540) 931-1331 and we will get moving.
- What do you need before you can quote a maintenance job?
A description of the work, photos if you have them, any drawings or equipment prints, and access for a site walk. For anything with a load path or an anchor pattern, we field verify before we quote. Send it through our contact page and we will get out there.
- Do you fabricate the parts or do we supply them?
Either way works. Most jobs we fabricate in our 5,000 square foot Middletown shop from carbon steel, stainless, and aluminum stock we keep on the rack. If your stores already carry the material, we will build from what you have.
- Can you supply mill certs and material documentation?
Tell us at the walkdown what your spec and your procurement group require and we will pass along the documentation that comes with the material we buy. If the job needs mill certs on the steel, or a qualified procedure for a particular code, say so before we order, because it changes where the material comes from and how we price the work. We would rather tell you straight whether a requirement fits us than find out at the receiving dock.
